As everyone knows with cold weather comes dreaded weight gain. One of the easiest places to put on this extra weight is on the area of the sides known as the love handles. After the cold weather has come and gone, however, the women and guys who have gained a bit will be looking for exercises for love handles so that they will be ready to hit the beach again. Thankfully there are a number of such exercises for love handles that really target that area!
The exercises listed below are excellent exercises for love handles and make a great addition to any workout. Make sure you check with your doctor before you begin an new routine. Also, warming up will help you to avoid injury.
The seated torso twist is a good beginning exercise for love handles. Starting out seated on the floor you will need to bend your knees. Place your feet flat on the floor and make sure they are roughly your hip’s width apart. Hold your arms out in front of you and lace your fingers together. You will then need to tighten your abdominal muscles and lean back a bit. While holding your abs tight you will twist your torso as far to one side as you can. Make the movement slowly and controlled while making sure to keep your arms straight out as if you are pointing directly between your knees. Once you have gone as far as you comfortably can return to center and rotate in the opposite direction. Repeat this exercise for love handles for a full set, if done correctly your abdominal muscles should feel tighter.
The next exercise for love handles is the hip lift. Also performed while on the floor you will need to lie flat for this one. It is a good idea to cushion your back with either a mat or a towel. With your palms up place your arms to your sides. Bring your legs straight into the air with the bottoms of your feet facing parallel to the floor. Make sure that you keep your legs as unbent as possible and draw in your abdominals. While you do this you will lift your hips off of the floor. Do not raise them more than a few inches. Once you have them up hold them there for a few seconds then slowly drop them back down. You will repeat this exercise for love handles for a full set. As with the previous you will soon be able to see, and feel, the results.
Finding new and different exercises for love handles is really pretty easy, its really all about following through. Plan on doing ab exercises each week and slowly build a program that attacks your tummy…you’ll feel better for it!
