Hot on our list is the crunch, the most basic yet the foundation of all abdominal exercise routines. OK so the Crunch is indeed the most often used but do most people fully execute the movements to its fullest potential…hmm good question!
Most people rush through the movements, not fully compressing on the upward movement or on the downward side. They rush other ways as well, herky jerky movements, arms flailing, necks pulling…you name it most of us have seen it.

Well here are a few tips for you to follow next time your doing CRUNCHES!
- Stay focused and always keep your neck and spine inline
- Never allow your chin to touch your chest, this puts to much pressure on your neck. Pain in the neck means your missing the target, your abs!
- Always try to reach straight up in the air, pushing the palms of your hand toward the ceiling. This not only make your abdominal muscles work harder it improves the burn.
- Again most people rush and forget that the negative portion/movement of the crunch is very important. Fight gravity and move slowly on the way down to maximize your efforts.
- Never have anyone hold your feet down on the floor, this type of anchoring it not recommended. It removes the focus from your midsection and the hip-flexor region.
- Always remember to breathe when working your abdominals, exhaling on the way up and inhaling on the return. Keep the air moving to get the most out of your Ab workout.
- You can actually make the crunch easier by keeping your arms by your side and on the floor. This form reduces the amount of upper body weight.
Put these tips to the test and before you know it you’ll be ready to show off that six pack!
