There is only one thing you will need for this exercise – a pair of dumbbells. These should be somewhat average in weight.
The best way to know which ones to use is to choose a pair that you would use for doing a good round of dumbbell curls. You will have to decide on the ones that are right for you.
Doing the Crawl
You should find somewhere with a bit of open floor space when you get ready to try the exercise. About ten to fifteen feet should be sufficient. Next, set your dumbbells down and assume the push-up position with each hand on a dumbbell. Make sure that you are up on your toes and then move your legs in toward your hands so that you are in a sprint starting position. Just imagine the way that sprinters look when they are at the starting position.
Now the fun begins! You will keep this positioning as you begin to Crawl forward. Begin by moving your left dumbbell and hand forward a few inches.
Simultaneously move your right foot forward the same amount of distance. Now you can see the basics of this killer abdominal workout right? You basically crawl forward with the dumbbells weighting your hands, right? Wrong!
There is a definite twist to this abdominal exercise. It is this little something extra which will help to kick in all your abdominal muscles and have them firing in overtime.
Once you crawl forward about ten feet or so you will then stop and begin crawling backwards! Now imagine the resistance you will be feeling!
It is this backwards movement that will help to work your deep core abdominals. The wild thing is that you won’t even have to try to tighten the muscles for a greater effect.

The motions you make while crawling forward and backward will be more than enough to give your abs a thorough workout.
