A valiant effort is put in but results are at a minimum and in the end most people will give up!

This year try something different! Create a plan that’s geared to small successes, set goals that are realistic and therefore more achievable! Remember that old saying…”Rome wasn’t built in a day” well nothing could be more true when it comes to weight loss.

The one thing that typically gets overlooked is stretching!

Stretching plays just as important a role in our muscle development as the target abdominal exercises themselves. Building a flexible core is key to our development, that’s why Yoga is such a fantastic workout method. The Stretching and holding of positions build deep muscle fiber strength and that in turn develops a great core. Which will in the long run get you those Six Pack Abs!

Exercise For Love Handles, Good Balance Equals A Better Lunge!

Exercise for love handles quick tip for today!

Building good solid foundation is necessary when it comes to all around fitness and it all starts with proper balanced. If your not balanced during any exercise than chances are your working harder and not seeing the progress you deserve.

Today we’re going to review a stance for Lunges that not only improve your balance but  also builds on proper technique!  Try this stance to gain better balance…

  • First off do not position your legs in a straight line
  • keep then more in a horizontal separation, approximately 6 inches a part will work.
  • setting up in this position with your feet farther apart provides better base support, making you more stable during the lunging movement.
  • Now set yourself with feet together to start
  • Now step 6 inches apart, again for better balance.
  • Begin the movement by stepping back all the while keeping your horizontal separation intact.
  • Repeat the exercise for 3-4 reps minimum, keeping form strictly in mind.

Add this small change to your routine and you will not only feel the improvement you’ll get the results your looking for!

Target Muscles in Play: Rectus Abdominus and Obliques

First Step-find a gym bench, now, lying flat on your back reach your hands all the way back and grab on to the underside of the bench. while supporting your head with your hands…bend your legs at the knees and raise your feet completely off the bench. Your knees  should now be aligned perfectly with your hips.

The Motion-Slowly roll your knees backwards drawing your abdominal muscles inward towards your spine. Make sure you breath with a slow exhale force your spine into the bench.  Next as your lower back moves off the bench keep the movement smooth focusing on your spine until your hips roll off the bench.

Today’s Quick Tip Exercise!

If your just starting out and looking for a good variation of your basic Sit-Up then try this…Great Core Building Exercise

Just a bit of advice always consult your physician before beginning any kind of exercise program.

The Incline Sit-up:

  • To begin with set up your incline board on a slight incline. Oh, don’t have one, remember you can improvise…how about breaking out that Exercise Ball. Another alternative would be to rummage through the garage and grab any board that’s wide enough and strong enough to support your weight, prop that up with anything that’s handy and low and behold your on your way.
  • Make sure your head is at the higher end of the incline. sorry had to point that out.
  • Target Muscles, Rectus Abdominis

Your execution is going to be exactly the same as the basic crunch except for one thing, the tension on your abdomen is a lot less. This improved position, allows for better leverage allowing you to pay close attention to form. Slow deliberate movements that focus on your Abs, exactly what you need to works those muscles into shape.  One more thing, this improved angle and leverage allows the beginner to easily perform this exercise without much strain on the back, neck and head.

As you all know I’m a firm believer in changing routines regularly. Matter of fact I really think It a must! True strength starts with a solid foundation, and when it comes to getting rid of those love handles you need to work and train your core muscle group constantly.

Enter weight training! No magic here, yes this is best done at the gym and with some basic cable movements you can achieve solid balance and core strength simultaneously.

In this great video, Kim shows you some great movements that will help you work your core group. Using the cable machine and with a wide stance you can see how your legs support the movement. Its that support under the stress of weights that builds total core strength as well as increased flexibility.
